Forecast Discussion
Forecast Discussion: Current Conditions: As of 2 PM on Monday, mostly sunny skies and temperatures into the low 30s kick off a new week after quite a chilly weekend. High clouds will start to move in late this afternoon leading to mostly cloudy skies late tonight and through the day tomorrow. The current breezy winds will become calmer later this evening. The first of two low pressure systems to impact the region will arrive tomorrow, though the weaker of the two. Air quality levels should fluctuate between high good and low moderate conditions over the next few days until all good late week. *** Tuesdays Forecast: On Tuesday, mostly cloudy skies with a chance for scattered light precipitation as a weak low pressure system heads eastward and passes to our south. The precipitation may begin the day as light flurries but more likely to become a light rain by the afternoon with periods of a rain/snow mix in-between. Temperatures will climb closer to normal than we have seen over the past several days with forecast highs in the mid to upper 30s. PM 2.5 levels will climb to moderate levels in the morning and return to mostly all good by afternoon as winds increase and enhance mixing. *** Extended Forecast: Skies will remain mostly cloudy for much of the day on Wednesday, though some peaks of sunshine may occur in the afternoon hours. Temperatures will climb to near 40 degrees, which is normal for the middle of February. PM 2.5 levels will once again climb to low moderate levels in the morning to return to all good in the afternoon as winds increase. The second low pressure system of the week will arrive on Thursday. Temperatures will soar into the upper 40s as we move into the warm sector ahead of the cold front. More moisture is associated with this system over the low that will pass on Tuesday, though all precipitation with this system will likely fall as rain. Behind the front, winds will increase and help return PM 2.5 levels to all good if the rainfall rates were not heavy enough to already do so. Temperatures will not become as cold behind the front as we saw over the past weekend. Forecast highs for late week and through the weekend will be near 40 degrees. Winds will become breezy to blustery for this time period to also help keep PM 2.5 levels in the good range. --- Roble
